Jeff Messer

President/Owner

In 2003, Jeffrey W. Messer, son of John P. Messer, grandson of John F. Messer, and great-grandson of Walter A. Messer, joined the company, becoming the fourth generation in the family business. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Ocean Engineering, Jeff served in the U.S. Navy for five years as a Surface Warfare Officer and Nuclear Power Engineer before returning to Maine and the family business. He has worked in various areas of the business, including service, parts, and sales, in an effort to learn the business from the ground-up.

Ray Thombs

Operations Manager, Messer Petroleum Equipment

Ray Thombs joined the company January 2016. Ray has stewarded numerous leadership roles prior to joining Messer Truck Equipment. He has hands-on experience in the civil engineering fields and in the automotive industry. He has served as president of four different non-profit organizations over the past 19 years. Ray is an active duty veteran and plans to retire from the Air National Guard in a few years. He has been married for 30 years to his 7th grade sweetheart and they have three children. At his core, he is a people developer and loves leadership opportunities. If you see him around ask him about his short stint as a performer on the big music stage. 

Ted Smith

Sales Manager

Ted began working for Messer Petroleum Equipment on a part time basis in 2016, and continued that for a couple of years.  He joined Messer Truck Equipment in December 2017 as a member of the Service Team, and became the Sales Manager in late January 2018.  Prior to joining the Messer family, Ted spent nearly 20 years in the animal health industry as a Customer Service supervisor and manager.  Outside of work he and his bride (since 1995) and their 3 daughters love to camp, hike and cheer on all of the Boston sports teams.  An area of importance to the Smith family is to actively participate and serve at Eastpoint Christian Church in South Portland. 

Donna Paul

Sales Administrator / Inside Sales Representative

As a long time Messer team member (nearly 20 years), Donna has fulfilled many roles. She is currently the backbone of the Sales Department, ensuring the smooth flow of information between our customers and installation technicians. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, boating, snowmobiling and Jimmy Buffett concerts. She lives in beautiful Naples with her husband and golden retriever, Riley.

Bob Tardiff

Sales Representative, Southern Maine

Bob has worked at Messer Truck Equipment for over 36 years, working on the shop floor as a refrigeration mechanic from 1980 to 1994 and then transitioning to the sales department. Bob loves spending time with his four grandchildren, enjoys camping and bass fishing in the summer. He is a fan of all New England sports teams and spends free time working on his old Mustangs. He also spends many nights relaxing with his wife by an outside fire. He also loves the outdoors and time spent hunting in the fall and ice fishing in the winter.

Anthony Pomerleau

Sales Representative, Central Maine

In 2012, Anthony started working on our parts counter and then transitioned into our sales department. Anthony came to us from Fisher Snowplows where he was a welder, fabricator, painter, and general "jack of all trades." Anthony enjoys motocross racing and just about anything to do with motorsports. He lives in Windham with his wife and two boys.  

Steve Taylor

Sales Representative, Northern Maine

Steve joined the team in 2016 with over 30 years experience in the truck equipment industry with experience in engineering, operations management, sales and marketing. Steve began his career at Fisher Snowplows, has worked in managing engineering, operations and production in the industry. He has recently relocated to the Portland area, is married and has 4 children and 6 grandchildren in Maine. 

Matthew Randall

Brand Ambassador

Matthew joined the Messer Truck Equipment team in January of 2017, starting as the Shop Supervisor.  In his current role he is focused on sales, marketing, social media, warranties, and developing relationships.  His previous field of work was serving as a non-profit territory and sales manager for the Boy Scouts of America, focused on the lower ten counties of Maine.   Matthew has also served as summer camp staff and management, locally and abroad, for over a decade.  A native of Maine and originally hailing from Bangor, he is an Eagle Scout and Registered Maine Guide. He currently lives in Brunswick with his wife Anne and four children.  In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and writing. 

Kristin Blakeslee

Consultant

Kristin joined the team in early 2017 with over 10 years experience in Sales and Business Management.  Kristin began her career in the welding wire industry and has recently relocated to Portland, ME.  Outside of the office, Kristin is currently pursuing her MBA in Executive Management and enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs.
